Oprah and the New Earth

Okay. I thought I heard it all until I discovered that Oprah Winfrey has launched a weekly internet course with New Age guru Eckhart Tolle telling people how they can discover themselves amidst their surroundings. This is one of the most blatant schemes of the devil I've seen in a while! I mean come on! The New Earth and Oprah!?
The concept of the book is that we can all help create a new world by becoming more aware of our selves and our surroundings. These are New Age teachings to the core. And I know of only One Person who will create a New Earth and that would be Almighty Elohim - Yahweh. But most people treat Oprah like she's God so they'll just follow along with her to the end I guess.

Eckhart Tolle is gaining even more popularity now that the big O is endorsing him. Unfortunately he's just another knot in the long line of New Age teachers promoting humanism and self awarness rather than obedience to God.

Tolle's influences include other New Age authors such as Advaita Vedanta, Zen-Buddhism's Lin-chi, as well as Sufism and, get this - mystical Islam!!! O my goodness, could people be anymore duped!?

Another well known author working on this project is Elizabeth Lesser. She is a well known proponent in the New Age movement, though her and her peers would never call it "New Age". No matter what you call it it's still the same thing.
Miss Lesser "Draws on illuminating stories from her own experience, critiques of American spiritual history, and meditative exercises from an array of religious, psychological, and healing traditions to help readers develop their own individual spiritual practices to suit the needs of body, mind, and spirit.
It's the same ol' melting pot of religion that is simply a humanistic approach to belief.
It's the same thing Satan proposed in the Garden, carried on through Babel, and maintains in our world today.

These new age teachings of Tolle and others usually focus on enlightenment. Enlightenment is a concept in mysticism, philosophy, and psychology. Three things that are in strong opposition to the Word of God! I can't say this strongly enough - this book and the whole movement is dangerous to say the least.
Because of it's teachings (which have been around for millenia), AND because of it's major endorsement by such a well known, loved, and powerful figure like Ms. Winfrey!

Here is a quote from one of the "exercises" in the book:
"Pay attention to the gap between your thoughts—when one thought subsides and before another arises. In this way, you draw consciousness away from mind activity and create a gap of no-mind in which you are highly alert and aware but not thinking. When these gaps occur, you disidentify from your mind and feel a certain stillness and peace inside you. This is the essence of meditation and the single most vital step on your journey toward enlightenment.
Are you kidding me!? I thought Romans 12:1-2 told us to "renew our minds" not disidentify from it! That's what is so concerning about this movement, it teaches lesson after lesson that is directly in opposition to God's Scriptures!

This subject will be updated with more references to this work and most importantly - Scriptures that obviously refute what's being taught by Oprah and Mr. Tolle.

I have been concerned about the following after Oprah, especially among women, for quite some time. Turn her off, ladies!

Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
James 4:4

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth,
2 Timothy 3:1-7

It is astounding how many Christian women spend hours each day watching the likes of Oprah, Dr. Phil, and even homosexuals who make them laugh. 2 Timothy 3:6 was meant for our generation, I believe. If possible, even the elect will be decieved...

Great blog and awesome site, Jason!
